With the intention of creating a hub for the creation and dissemination of knowledge about founder leadership past the start-up stage, I developed The Founder Leadership Research Lab in 2025. A collaboration between Kellogg College at the University of Oxford and the School of Public Policy & Administration at Carleton University, The Founder Leadership Research Lab is focused on understanding founder leadership in all contexts beyond the start-up stage, as well as preventing and mitigating the negative effects of Founder’s Syndrome. Based on original research, The Lab provides practice-oriented workshops, webinars and other assistance to organizations seeking to enact a successful transition from being founder-led to new forms of board and CEO leadership.
