With the intention of creating a hub for the creation and dissemination of knowledge about founder leadership past the start-up stage, I developed The Founder Leadership Research Lab in 2025, based at Kellogg College at the University of Oxford. The Founder Leadership Research Lab is focused on understanding founder leadership in all contexts beyond the start-up stage, as well as preventing and mitigating the negative effects of Founder’s Syndrome. While conducting original research on various facets of the founder ecosystem and its impact on founders, The Lab provides practice-oriented workshops, webinars and other assistance to organizations seeking to enact a successful transition from being founder-led to new forms of board and CEO leadership. Seed funding for The Lab is generously provided by 3 Futures Fund.
